In June 2024, MAMA was thrilled to partner with the Amoana Academy to refurbish their existing classroom building and help enhance the learning environment for hundreds of children at the school.
The committed and enthusiastic team at Amoana got straight to work! Using local contractors and community volunteers, the refurbishment works are progressing quickly. Completed works include:
- Demolition of old structures – the existing classroom structure was carefully dismantled to prepare for the new construction. Foundations for two new classrooms were laid and the wall frames replaced.
- Separation of classes – using the available space more efficiently, one structure has been used to create two new classrooms.
- Sealing of floors – the classroom floors are being tiled with new tiles.
- Installation of windows – new windows have been installed in the classrooms.
- Porch extension – a new porch is being installed to improve use of the spaces available and provide protection from the weather.
We express our sincere gratitude to MAMA for your invaluable support. Your generous grant has significantly advanced the much needed refurbishment of our classrooms and building structure. The project will create a more conducive learning environment for our students, fostering a positive impact on their educational experience.
