Following the recent signing of the MAMA Funding Agreement formalising our partnership with the Mercy School in Honiara, work has commenced on the building of two brand new classrooms.
MAMA has transferred the first round of funding, and local support for the new project has been overwhelming.
Year 5 and 6 students from Mercy School have assisted with preparing the site for the building.
One of the Year 6 students, Kevin, demonstrated remarkable commitment to the task, working solidly in high temperatures to get the job done. It’s fantastic to see the students so excited about the building of their new classrooms.
The students and teachers have also started working on the new sanitary block, including digging 2m-deep holes for the new dry pit toilets.
We’re very excited about our partnership with Mercy School and now can’t wait for more updates as construction commences.
